The Mt Isthmus Traverse
The Mt Isthmus Traverse is an off road trail running event held on privately owned Glen Dene Station near Lake Hawea. The event features multiple race distances that use mountain trails, single track, ridge lines and 4wd farm tracks, with courses starting and finishing at Craigeburn on Glen Dene Station. The 2025 edition has been postponed and registered entries will be transferred to the next scheduled event.
Race options include:
- Mountain Marathon, ascent 2,175 m descent 2,175 m
- 27km Hill Run, ascent 1,529 m descent 1,529 m
- 10km Trail Hill Run, ascent 652 m descent 652 m
- 5km Trail Hill Run, ascent 310 m descent 310 m
Online registrations opened 1 December 2024 and close 5 November 2025. Last minute entry is available on the event day for the 10km and 5km races. A course map and checkpoint details are provided at registration. Water and energy drink will be available at seven checkpoints in the Marathon and four checkpoints in the 27km event as well as at the start and finish. Courses will be marked with fluorescent pink tape and red directional arrows. Compulsory clothing for the Marathon and 27km events includes a seam sealed waterproof jacket, long sleeve thermal top and leggings, and thermal beanie and gloves. First aiders and qualified personnel will be located around the course and at the start and finish. Parking and toilets are provided near the event hub.
