The Maverick Ochil Hills Trail 2026
The event takes place on Saturday 8 August 2026 at Airthrey Castle, University of Stirling, Stirling, Scotland. Runners start at the university and follow routes that pass through Hermitage Wood and Black Hill, then continue along undulating open trails with views towards the Ochil Hills.
Five route options are offered:
- Ultra: 50 km, +1914 m elevation
- Marathon: 42 km, +1352 m elevation
- Half Marathon: 27 km, +987 m elevation
- Middle: 10 km, +345 m elevation
- Short: 5 km, +161 m elevation
The course mixes forest trails and fell running. Ultra and Marathon routes include sustained climbs and specific mandatory kit requirements. Ultra and Marathon entrants have a nine hour finish cut off; arriving at an outpost after the cut off will result in transfer back to the finish and the cut off is non negotiable. Outposts will provide fuel, snacks and electrolyte drinks as top ups; the event aims to keep outposts cup free so runners should bring a cup or bottle.
Facilities and services include marked and timed courses, online results, event photography, bag drop, food and drink, free parking and a metal finishers medal.
