Event overview
The Maverick Ochil Hills Trail 2026 is a trail running event on Saturday 8 August 2026 at Airthrey Castle, University of Stirling, Stirling, Scotland (FK9 4LA). The event is organised by Maverick Race and celebrates the Ochil Hills. Routes start at the University of Stirling and run through Hermitage Wood and Black Hill, along undulating open trails with the Ochils visible as a distant viewpoint. Dogs will not be allowed because of likely high temperatures. The organiser works with local partners including the university, mountain rescue, and a forestry charity.

Online entry closes on Tuesday 4 August 2026. The Ultra and Marathon routes have cut-off points for safety; detailed cut-off times will be published later. Outposts will provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks but not pre-filled cups; participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle. Mandatory items for Ultra and Marathon routes include a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, about 800 calories, at least 1 litre of water, self-adhesive bandage, whistle, foil blanket, hat or buff, and a GPX of the route. The event offers free parking, fully marked and timed courses, event photography, bag drop, online results, and a metal finishers medal.
