The Flora Maverick Jurassic Coast Hike 2026
The Flora Maverick Jurassic Coast Hike takes place on 18 October 2026 at Burnbake Forest Lodges and Campsite, Corfe Castle, Wareham, Dorset. It is a charity-entry-only walking event offering two marked trail distances that start near the village of Corfe Castle and follow coastal and inland paths across the Isle of Purbeck.
The route options are:
- 24 km (Half Marathon) - Elevation +405 m; Purbeck Way, Old Harry Rocks
- 43 km (Full Marathon) - Elevation +911 m; Durlston Country Park, Winspit Quarry, St Aldhelm's Head, Hardy Way
The event is dog friendly; dogs must be added to the entry to take part. Facilities include free parking, fully marked and timed courses, online results, event photography, and a finisher medal and T shirt. Full Marathon participants receive a fresh lunch on route and a hot meal at the finish. Outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink; the Half route has one outpost and the Marathon route has three. There will be no prefilled water cups at outposts, so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle.
Entry is priced at £25 per person, and this is a fundraising event partnered with five charities: Alzheimer’s Research UK, Asthma + Lung UK, Make-A-Wish UK, Marie Curie, and Samaritans. Marathon entrants commit to a minimum fundraising target of £400; Half Marathon entrants commit to a minimum of £200. Registration is open to people aged 18 and over; ages 14–17 may attend with a parent or guardian and signed consent. Children under 14 are not eligible.
