The Loch Lomond Beastie Triathlon Festival 2026
The Loch Lomond Beastie Triathlon Festival is organised by Lomond Swimming & Triathlon Club and takes place on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Balloch Castle Country Park on the banks of Loch Lomond. The event features off‑road cross triathlon and aquathon formats with three race options and mapped course routes for swim, cycle, and run sections.
Medals are optional to help keep entry fees the same and reduce waste; a medal can be requested for a £5 cost. The Bikeless Beastie Aquathon is the Scottish Aquathon Championship for 2026 and counts towards the Scottish Triathlon Series.
Essential kit and safety rules are specified by the organiser. Mountain bikes are compulsory; drop handlebars are not permitted. A hardtail or full suspension mountain bike is recommended and grippy tyres are advised for potentially muddy sections. Wetsuit use depends on water temperature: compulsory below 14°C and not permitted above 22°C for most athletes, with a different upper limit for those aged 60 and over.
Venue facilities include changing tents, a bag drop, toilets, and catering. Parking in the country park is limited so designated parking at the National Park HQ or Lomond Shores is advised. The event is run by volunteers with Triathlon Scotland officials in attendance. Refunds are available with full refund until May 30, 2026 and 75 percent until June 30, 2026.
