The Loch Lomond Beastie Triathlon Festival takes place on 25 July 2026 at Balloch Castle Country Park on the banks of Loch Lomond. It is organised by Lomond Swimming & Triathlon Club and features off-road triathlon and aquathlon formats. The Bikeless Beastie Aquathon is the Scottish Aquathon Championship for 2026 and will count towards the Scottish Triathlon Series. Medals are optional for this event and cost £5 each.
Distances
- The Beastie - 750m swim, 17k off-road cycle, 5k run.
- The Wee Beastie - 400m swim, 9k off-road cycle, 3k run.
- Bikeless Beastie Aquathon - 750m swim, 5k run.
Rules and equipment
Mountain bikes are compulsory; cyclocross, gravel, and hybrid bikes are not suitable. Drop handlebars are not permitted. A hardtail or full-suspension mountain bike is recommended. Wetsuits are compulsory if water temperature is below 14°C and not permitted if above 22°C (24.6°C for athletes aged 60+). Triathlon Scotland officials will be present to enforce rules.
Venue and logistics
Parking in the country park is limited; designated parking is provided at the National Park HQ or Lomond Shores. On-site facilities include changing tents, a bag drop, toilets, and catering. There are no shower facilities. Course maps and detailed route descriptions are provided by the organiser.
Entry and refunds
Entry status is open. Published entry prices vary by event and booking date. Full refunds are available for withdrawals up to 30 May 2026, 75% refunds up to 30 June 2026, and no refunds after 30 June 2026. A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for non-home-nation members, with reduced charges for younger participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
