The Loch Lomond Beastie Triathlon Festival
The event comprises three off road race options around Loch Lomond, all finishing near Balloch Castle and including a finisher medal with every entry. Each option includes an open water loch swim plus off road running and, where applicable, mountain biking.
- The Beastie : Loch swim 750 m, mountain bike ≈17 km, trail run ≈5 km
- The Wee Beastie : Loch swim 400 m, mountain bike ≈9 km, trail run ≈3 km
- The Bikeless Beastie Aquathlon : Loch swim 750 m, no bike, trail run ≈5 km
Minimum race ages are stated per event: 17 for the Beastie and Bikeless Beastie, 15 for the Wee Beastie, all ages calculated on 31 December 2027. Planned base entry fees are shown for each event and include an early bird and a standard rate. Bike and run distances are approximate.
Categories include Open and Female; Female is for athletes whose sex is female at birth, and Open is available to all athletes including transgender athletes. The aquathlon uses separate starts with a shared briefing. The organisers have applied to host the 2027 Scottish Aquathlon Championships; the award is pending and may affect prize allocation.
On race morning competitors collect a race number, swim cap and timing chip, wear the chip on the left ankle and return it at the finish. Transition rules include no riding in transition and fastening helmets before moving a bike. Venue facilities include toilets, changing tents, first aid, catering and an unsupervised bag drop; there are no showers.
