Event overview
The Leftovers Mystery Race takes place on December 6, 2025, at Bayfront Park, Harbour Front Drive, Hamilton, ON, Canada. The route uses paved pedestrian trails. The event uses a novelty format: each participant receives a pair of blunt-tip scissors and must stop at checkpoints to randomly draw an image and cut it out before leaving the checkpoint. Checkpoint volunteers assess the cutting and may require a redo. Distances are revealed on race day and the fastest runner may not win because of the cutting tasks.
Logistics and what is included
Registration is free but participants are asked to bring a $20 cash donation to place in one of four charity jars: SickKids Hospital, Hamilton Conservation Authority, Melanoma Canada, or Hamilton Out of the Cold. The organizers provide race swag made from leftover items and finishers receive a medal; items may vary and swapping among participants is expected. Distances offered on race day include:
- Short - up to 6 km
- Medium - 10 to 15 km
- Long - 16 to 25 km
There will be one basic aid station, mainly for the longest distance. The event is not chip-timed; timing will be manual with watch, pen, and paper. There are no refunds or deferrals; a bib may be given to another person if needed. Entry spaces are limited and a waitlist was used when the event filled.
