Kokoda Challenge - Sydney (19 - 20 September 2026)
The Sydney Kokoda Challenge is a team endurance event held in Helensburgh and the Royal National Park area, with course sections in Heathcote National Park. It runs across 19 and 20 September 2026 and supports the Kokoda Youth Foundation's funded youth programs while honouring the Kokoda Track diggers.
Participants must enter as part of a team; solo entries are not permitted. Team sizes and entry categories vary by distance and include school team options. Each team must meet a minimum fundraising target and pay a registration fee to participate. Support crews are strongly recommended for the longer distances and are required to use designated support checkpoints where available.
The route covers rugged bushland, steep climbs, clifftop coastline and ocean views. Course features and aid locations are checkpoint based; each distance has a set number of checkpoints and support crew checkpoints. Time limits to complete each course are set per distance to ensure participant safety.
Distances offered include:
- 18 km through Heathcote National Park; 9 hours to complete.
- 48 km through Heathcote National Park; 20 hours and 7 checkpoints.
- 96 km through Heathcote National Park; 39 hours and 11 checkpoints.
Course maps and detailed event information are provided to teams before the event. Event parking is available near start and finish areas but is limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
