The Kan

The Kan is a mountain trail race held in Mt. Spokane State Park. All distances start and end at Selkirk Lodge and run on trails through Mt. Spokane Ski Park and the surrounding state park. Course terrain includes alpine meadows, huckleberry groves, and old pine forests, offering a mountain race feel on a fast course.

Distances offered:

  • 50k: 6,000 ft elevation gain; multi-loop course including summit and Bald Knob.
  • 25k: 3,300 ft elevation gain; comprises the second half of the 50k course.
  • 10k: 1,600 ft elevation gain; about 7 miles climbing to the Mt. Spokane summit.

Packet pickup is at Spokane Fleet Feet in Kendall Yards the night before the race from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Race entry includes postrace food and drinks, with cold beer provided by Lumberbeard Brewing and burritos provided by Old European.

The event offers a $2,100 prize purse and additional awards such as sports massages, restaurant gift cards, and gym memberships. Standard entry fees listed are $109 for the 50k, $79 for the 25k, and $49 for the 10k; prices increase by $15 on March 1 and again on May 1. Courses may change due to permits.
