The Kan Mt. Spokane Trail Run
The Kan is a trail running event at Mt. Spokane State Park near Spokane, WA, organized by Ponderosa Racing. The event offers multiple distance options and uses trails through Mt. Spokane Ski Park, alpine meadows, huckleberry groves, and old pine forest. All courses start and end at Selkirk Lodge.

The 50k covers approximately two main loops and extended summit terrain and includes about 6,000 ft of elevation gain. The route features a 6.8 mile loop with a steep drop, high-country XC ski trail sections around Shadow Mountain, climbs via Cat Track and Northwest Passage to the summit, backside switchback descents, Kit Carson, Bald Knob, and multiple aid station restocks.
The 25k comprises the upper half of the 50k course with about 3,300 ft of elevation gain. It traverses the Ski Park, climbs to the summit via Cat Track and Northwest Passage, includes backside switchbacks, Day Mountain, Kit Carson, and a final descent through Bald Knob. The 25k is part of the Vert Running Series and contributes championship points.
The 10k covers roughly 7 miles with about 1,600 ft of elevation gain, climbing directly to the Mt. Spokane summit and descending via the backside switchbacks and Bald Knob.
Packet pickup is at Spokane Fleet Feet in Kendall Yards the night before. Race entry includes food and cold beer from event vendors. A prize purse and additional awards are planned. Courses and dates may change due to permits and other unforeseen circumstances; refunds are not provided though partial credits may be considered case by case.
