The Kan - Mt Spokane State Park
The Kan is a mountain trail race held in Mt Spokane State Park near Spokane, WA. All distances start and end at Selkirk Lodge and run on ski-area trails, singletrack and park routes that pass through alpine meadows, huckleberry groves and old pine forests.
Distances offered:
- 50k: 6,000 ft elevation gain, loops, XC ski trails, summit and descent sections.
- 25k: 3,300 ft elevation gain, comprises the second half of the 50k course.
- 10k: 7 miles, 1,600 ft elevation gain, direct climb to the Mt Spokane summit and descent.
Race entry includes post-race food and cold beer provided by Lumberbeard Brewing and burritos provided by Old European. A $2,100 prize purse and additional awards such as sports massages, restaurant gift cards and gym memberships are listed for competitors. Packet pickup is scheduled at Spokane Fleet Feet in Kendall Yards the evening before the event from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
Course details and maps are maintained by the organizer. Courses may change if permits require it. If the planned date cannot be executed because of unforeseen circumstances the event will be rescheduled; refunds are not provided though partial credit may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Pricing is listed as $109 for the 50k, $79 for the 25k and $49 for the 10k; entry fees increase by $15 on March 1 and again on May 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
