The Jailbreak Adventure Race
The Jailbreak Adventure Race is an event scheduled for February 21, 2026. It is set in the terrain around Lake Georgetown in Georgetown, Texas.
The event offers two formats: a 6-hour race called the Sheriff's Sprint and a 12-hour race called the Outlaw Extreme. Both races combine paddling, trekking, and biking disciplines.
A key feature of this adventure race is that participants navigate using only a map and compass; GPS devices are not permitted. The course is not marked, taking competitors through Texas grasslands, thick brush, and across flatwater sections of the lake.
Participant teams consist of 2 to 4 members, with categories for Male, Female, or Mixed teams. Solo participation requires prior approval from the race organizers. There is also a special recognition for the top-performing team where all members are aged 50 or older.
For the shorter Sheriff's Sprint, the course includes pavement, beginner-friendly trails, open terrain for trekking, and calm waters for paddling. It features clear trails and landmarks. The longer Outlaw Extreme course involves single-track biking, rugged jeep roads, trekking through forests and prairie, and paddling to areas with cliff bands and caves on Lake Georgetown. While checkpoints are not hidden, they are described as not easy to reach. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
