The Itch : Ocala, FL

The Itch is a point to point 50K trail race that follows the Western Connector of the Florida National Scenic Trail through Ocala wilderness. The course runs from Lake Kerr Road / CR 316 (29.366480, -81.821900) to the Baseline Road Trailhead at Florida Greenway Baseline Road Park, 4803 SE 58th Ave (MM 31.1).

The event is described as a no frills, rugged trail race with no course markers; runners navigate by following orange blazes on the Florida Trail. Every participant is required to download the course GPX to a phone or watch and must carry a phone during the race. Aid is provided on course and there is one designated drop bag location at MM 17.1 (NE 145th Ave Rd, 29.223630, -81.916050). Other aid stations include MM 9.6 (Salt Springs Hwy / CR 314, 29.286410, -81.852630) and MM 26.2 (Marshall Swamp Trailhead / CR 314, 29.185090, -82.015020).

Transportation between the start and finish is the responsibility of each runner. If there is sufficient interest, organizers may consider arranging a van shuttle from the finish back to the start for uncrewed runners. GPX files are provided on Garmin Connect and CalTopo.

The event organizer does not offer refunds. Registered runners may opt for a rollover credit equal to 75 percent of the entry fee for use the following year; this option is available until seven days before the race and requires re registration to apply the credit at checkout.
