The Itch - Ocala, FL
The Itch is a point-to-point 50K trail race on the Florida National Scenic Trail Western Connector near Ocala, Florida. The route begins on Lake Kerr Road / CR-316 and finishes at the Baseline Road Trailhead at Florida Greenway Baseline Road Park (4803 SE 58th Ave). The course length is approximately 50K.
The event is described as a no-frills, rugged wilderness route with no formal course markers; runners follow the orange blazes on the Florida National Scenic Trail. Organizers require each runner to download the course GPX to a phone or watch and to carry a phone during the race. Aid is provided on course and there is one designated drop-bag zone for competitors without crew support. Transportation to and from the start and finish is the responsibility of each runner, though a shuttle van may be considered if there is sufficient interest.
Aid stations and crew access points are located along the course, including an aid station at MM 9.6 (Salt Springs Hwy / CR 314), a drop-bag location at MM 17.1 (NE 145th Ave Rd), and an aid station at MM 26.2 (Marshall Swamp Trailhead / CR 314). Additional crew stops are noted at approximate mile markers 5, 13, and 21.5; the finish is at MM 31.1. GPX files are provided for navigation.
The event does not offer refunds; registered runners may elect a rollover credit equal to 75% toward the following year's entry, available until seven days before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
