HOAG OC Marathon Running Festival
The HOAG OC Marathon Running Festival is an annual running weekend held each May in Orange County, California. The festival combines multiple race distances with a weekend of related events, including a Lifestyle & Fitness Expo and the Celebrate OC Festival.
Races take place on a coastal course that runs from the oceanfront streets of Newport Beach to the bayside of Costa Mesa and through neighborhoods of Santa Ana. The event presents a festive finish-line atmosphere and includes walker-friendly options as well as elite competition.
Event features and programs described by the organizer include:
- 26.2 miles full marathon
- 13.1 miles half marathon
- 5K run or walk
- Kids Run and a 10–12 week youth program promoting active, healthy habits
Past reports note substantial participation and spectator interest: one report cited about 15,000 registered runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes, while another mentioned more than 50,000 spectators on race day. The event has been held since 2004 and lists supporting elements such as pace groups, awards and prize money, VIP packages, and community partnerships.
Specific weekend activities vary by year but commonly include live music at the 5K, an expo, and festival programming across Friday through Sunday. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
