Event overview
The Hebden 2026 is a winter long-distance walking event held in Mytholmroyd, United Kingdom, based at St Michaels Church Hall. There are two routes:
- 22 miles
- 15 miles
The long route includes over 4,000 feet of climbing; the shorter route has less ascent. The event is described as not suitable for beginners. Entrants must finish in line with stated chop times; a maximum overall time of 9 hours will be enforced.
Logistics and entry
The event has a limit of 500 entrants and is currently full; a waiting list will open once the limit is reached. Entries opened on 1 August 2025 and closed on 23 December 2025. The entry fee is £25.00 per person and includes refreshments at the start and en route, a meal at the finish, and transport for retirees. Transfers between entrants are allowed up to 31 December; no changes to entries are permitted after 1 January.
Registration takes place at St Michaels Church Hall, Mytholmroyd. Car parking is available at Mytholmroyd Community Centre (HX7 5DY, grid reference SE011259) and other locations. Bus stops and a train station are close by. Recommended map: 1:25000 Outdoor Leisure Map 21 - South Pennines; digital mapping is provided for use on OS Maps app and Garmin devices. Entrants are advised to carry recommended winter kit and have some navigational ability. Under-18s must walk with an adult. Dogs are allowed on a short lead but not in the event HQ.
