The Grey 5K - First Responders' Edition
The Grey 5K returns to Essex, Ontario, held at Sadler's Pond Nature Park and Trail. The event takes place in May to coincide with Brain Tumour and Cancer Awareness Month, symbolized by the grey ribbon. Participants will experience a revised race route for this year's edition within the park grounds.
The 2026 version specifically honors local first responders, including fire, EMS, and police services. While focusing on friendly competition between these agencies, the event is open to all community members regardless of their profession. Participants have the option to join as individuals or as part of a team.
Available distances include:
- 5 km Run
- 5 km Walk
Organized by The Jaida Chartier Foundation, the event raises money to fund childhood cancer research, with a specific focus on pediatric brain cancer. The registration fee includes a custom T-shirt. The foundation aims to surpass previous fundraising totals through participant registrations and additional donations collected during the campaign.
