The Great Jones County Fair 5K Race takes place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Monticello, Iowa. The event location is 800 N Maple St, Monticello, IA 52310. Two 5K events are listed: one for ages 21 to 105 (entry fee $35) and one for ages 20 and under (entry fee $20). Registration opens January 1, 2026 at 7:00am CST. The online deadline to receive a T-shirt is July 3, 2026. Entry to the race includes a complementary fair entry ticket. Proceeds will support adult programming and events in the community year-round.
Course, timing, and awards
The course winds around the fairgrounds, passes livestock barns and the track, continues past Monticello Golf Course, and goes through Riverside Gardens. Organizers intend to mark the course with a chalked line. Participants may walk or run. Chip timing will be provided by B & W Racing. Fair ribbons will be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers in each race and in these age categories: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and older.
