The Freedom 50
The Freedom 50 is an annual ultramarathon held in Puyallup, Washington on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, May 29, 2027. The event offers two distances and follows largely the Foothills Trail.
- 50 Mile: Puyallup to edge of Enumclaw via Foothills Trail
- 50K: Out and back from Puyallup to South Prairie on Foothills Trail
The race starts and finishes at Diamond Detail in downtown Puyallup. The entire course is paved and includes sections on the Puyallup Riverwalk with connecting shoulders and sidewalks, so road shoes are recommended. Elevation change is minimal with only minor variations near Buckley. Aid stations are located at roughly four mile intervals and supply food, water, and electrolytes. Fifty mile runners pass the four aid stations twice, creating eight aid stops before the finish; the halfway point is near the Veterans Memorial Monument in Buckley at about mile 25. The 50 mile route includes a crossing of the new White River bridge.
Finisher benefits include a $110 gift certificate to Diamond Detail, one month of unlimited CrossFit classes at CrossFit Puyallup, and a custom cast finisher's medal. The first 50 registrants before May 1 receive a free race T shirt. Top three overall finishers earn free entry to the next year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
