The Foxtail Rail Trail Race (Paul Turkstra Memorial) : Dundas Valley Conservation Area
The event takes place at Dundas Valley Conservation Area, Governors Road, Dundas, ON. All distances start and finish at the Trail Centre and use out-and-back routes on the Hamilton-to-Brantford Rail Trail.
The course is nearly flat, wide, groomed, and accessible, with route markings and kilometer markers for much of the race. Aid stations or water drops appear approximately every 5 to 8 km and provide water, electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and PB and J. The event is cup-less; participants should bring a collapsible cup or bottle. Drop bags are allowed at the start/finish area of each loop. Parking is in the conservation area lot and spectator entrance fees apply; participant entry is included in the registration fee.
Event benefits include chip timing, race photos, a choice of Unisex or Women’s Cut t-shirt, a race bib, and finisher medals for 5k, 10k, 25k, and 50k. The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and held in memory of Paul Turkstra, with fundraising support for Melanoma Canada. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
