The Flying Frog 5K and 10K
The Flying Frog race takes place at the Beaufort Executive Airport on Ladys Island, South Carolina. The event marks the beginning of South Carolina Aviation Week and features a course layout on a fast, flat airport runway. Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5K
- 10K
A portion of the race proceeds benefits Operation Patriots FOB (OPFOB), a nonprofit organization that provides outdoor experiences and peer connection for veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders. The event includes specific registration categories for students and children under the age of 12.
The event follows a patriotic theme and welcomes both walkers and participants using strollers. All runners who complete the course receive a finisher medal. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in various age divisions, ranging from under 12 to over 70.
Following the running events, the location hosts the Frog Fest. This festival includes live music from multiple bands such as Chris Jones and The Hardee Station Band, as well as food truck vendors. Race participants receive complimentary admission to the festival, while separate admission is available for non-runners. Packet pickup is scheduled on designated days at local running shops and the airport prior to the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
