The First Race - Christchurch
The First Race 2027 is a running event held on New Year’s Day at Ngā Puna Wai Sports Hub in Wigram, Christchurch. The event offers chip timing, a certified, flat 2.5 km loop course, and a finisher medal for all finishers.
There are three distance options, run as repeated laps of the loop:
- 5 km, 2 laps
- 10 km, 4 laps
- 21.1 km, 8.5 laps
Early bird and standard entry pricing is published for each distance, and entries include chip timing and a custom finisher medal. The organisers describe the track as designed for performance and personal bests. Race night features a start/finish hub with a DJ set and a countdown, creating a festival-like atmosphere around the race area. Ample on-site parking is available at the sports hub.
