The Elizabeth Ferris Memorial 5K
The Elizabeth Ferris Memorial event is a 5K run and walk held on October 25, 2026 at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, New York. The course is a USATF certified 5K located within Heckscher State Park and the Secatogue Lands. The event offers both in person and virtual participation, with a window for virtual entrants to submit times and photos from October 25 to November 1.
The event is hosted by the family to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer research. One hundred percent of net proceeds will be donated to The Lustgarten Foundation. Registration includes options for donations and an optional purchase protection fee that may refund registration under qualifying circumstances.
On event day there are participant services such as bib pickup, personalized bibs for those registered at least three weeks in advance, live online text and email results, and free finish line photos. Additional on site features include a memory wall for photos and cash only basket raffles. Awards are presented to the top three male and top three female overall finishers and to the top male and female in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus.
Bib mailing typically begins the Monday prior to the event; later registrants may receive mailed bibs within several business days. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
