About the event

The Elephant Run 5K is organized by the non-profit Forget-Me-Not-Baskets, Inc., which provides grief support and remembrance items to families affected by pregnancy or infant loss. The elephant is used as a symbol of remembrance. The event takes place at Wayne College in Orrville, Ohio, on July 25, 2026.

Events and details

The event consists of multiple races:

  • The Elephant Run/Walk 5K - A 5K run/walk. Awards are given for the top three overall male and female runners and for the top three finishers in each age group. All participants receive a finisher's medal.
  • Elephant Run 5K Wheelchair Race - A 5K wheelchair race.
  • Steven Michael's Mile - A one-mile race.
  • Willow's Fun Run - A fun run for children aged 7 and under. Participants receive a swag bag and an award.
  • Virtual Race - Elephant Run/Walk - A virtual 5K option for those unable to attend in person.

All in-person runners receive a finisher's medal. Shirts are included with registration for the 5K, Steven Michael's Mile, and Virtual Race, and are optional for Willow's Fun Run. There is an option to personalize shirt sleeves with a child's name. Packet pickup begins at 7:00 AM on race day at the main entrance of Wayne College, and participants are encouraged to use the Smucker Road entrance.

Registration and fundraising

Registration opens on February 13, 2026. The entry fee for the 5K, wheelchair race, and one-mile run is $29. Willow's Fun Run is $10, and the virtual race is $34. There is an option for a personal fundraiser; raising $100 for the 5K or mile, or $50 for the kids' run, results in a refund of the registration fee. Teams can also set up fundraisers, with the winning team recognized at the awards ceremony.
