Format, rules and practical info
Participants register, hand over electronic devices and receive a race number and sealed emergency bag. Competitors are transported to an undisclosed drop-off location, wear blackout blindfolds or an alternative safety goggle, and must navigate back to the event centre without maps, GPS, compasses or outside help. Distances are measured as the crow flies; the actual route taken may be longer. Rules include no unauthorised maps, no shortcuts, and breaking the emergency bag seal results in disqualification.
Live GPS tracking is available as an optional, paid feature for safety and sharing; trackers must be returned after the event or a £175 replacement fee applies. Organisers note tracker accuracy can be affected by tall buildings and placement, and advise placing trackers with a clear view of the sky.
