Event overview
The Drop - Lincoln is an outdoor navigation event in Lincoln. The next race date is 10/01/2026. Participants can enter solo or in a team and choose between the following distances:
- 15-mile
- 10-mile
Distances are measured as the crow flies; the actual route on foot may be longer.
Format and rules
At registration, participants hand over electronic devices and watches, receive a race number and an emergency bag, and must keep devices sealed in that bag during the event. Participants board a bus, wear a blackout blindfold or an alternative if needed, and are driven to an undisclosed drop-off point. From the drop-off point, each participant must make their own way back to the event centre without maps, GPS, a route, compass, or outside help. Breaking the emergency bag seal leads to disqualification. Organisers may provide maps at their discretion.
Tracking and logistics
Live GPS tracking is available as an optional, separate feature. The trackers are quoted as accurate within 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings, signal black spots, and device placement. Trackers should be placed in an outside pocket for best performance. All trackers must be returned to staff after the event or a £175 replacement fee will apply. Organisers have access to additional safety features not available to participants. Nearest public transport points are Lincoln train station and Lincoln bus station.
