The Dartmoor Beast

The Dartmoor Beast is a trail running event in Dartmoor National Park scheduled for Sunday 27 September 2026. It offers long off-road courses across open moorland, woodland, rivers and bog.

Choose between:

  • 20 miles full route
  • 14 miles Wee Beastie

The 20-mile route rises about 3399 ft and includes five granite tors and a 377 ft climb with a 22% gradient to the summit of High Willhays, the highest point in southern England. The 14-mile route gains about 2224 ft and visits four tors, including the same high point.

The event is chip timed and fully supported on course. Water stations are provided but competitors must bring their own container because cups are not supplied. There will be a refreshment stand on route, toilets at the start/finish and along the course, professional medical staff and first aid stations. All finishers receive a metal medal and are served a traditional Devon cream tea; trophies are awarded to the fastest male and female on each route. GPX files for both routes will be issued at least two months before the event.

General entries have sold out; a limited number of fundraising places remain. Standard entry fees and a reduced fundraising-entry option are set with a fundraising target and payment deadline. Participants must be medically fit and able to maintain a minimum pace of 20 minutes per mile. Walking poles and dogs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
