The Cut Carbon Run
The Cut Carbon Run is a community athletic event held in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Organized by Students Cutting Carbon Emissions, a non-profit organization, the event raises funds for sustainable investment projects, specifically focusing on reducing carbon emissions in commercial buildings. The races start and end at the Chesterton Athletic Field, located at the corner of North Park Boulevard, Shelburne Road, and Chesterton Road.
The event features two distinct distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
Participants in the 5K distance receive a race bib equipped with a timing chip to track their performance. The event recognizes the top five overall finishers with awards. Beyond individual participation, the race encourages group involvement through team registrations. Teams are eligible for a costume contest where a prize is awarded for the best outfit.
Participants who pre-register are provided with a short-sleeved race t-shirt. For those registering on the day of the event, t-shirts are available in limited quantities. The event is open to both runners and walkers. Dogs are permitted to attend, provided they remain on a short leash and start at the back of the group. Parking is available on several surrounding streets, including Sherbrook Road, Courtland Boulevard, North Park Boulevard, and Shelburne Road.
