The Cut Carbon Run : Overview
The Cut Carbon Run takes place on August 1, 2026 in Shaker Heights, OH. The event is organized by Students Cutting Carbon Emissions, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The event offers the following distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
All participants who pre-register receive a short-sleeved race t-shirt; a limited quantity of shirts will be available for day-of registrants. All 5K participants receive a race bib with a timing chip. Awards or prizes are given to the top five overall finishers in the 5K.
Proceeds from the event are invested in Calvert Impact’s Cut Carbon Note, an investment project focused on sustainability in commercial buildings.
Location, Course and Logistics
The race starts and finishes at Chesterton Athletic Field (corner of N Park Blvd, Shelburne Rd, and Chesterton Rd). The published 5K route follows Shelburne Rd past Green, turns right onto Rocklyn Rd, continues on Laureldale Rd, Landon Rd, McCauley Rd, Dryden Rd, Parnell Rd, and returns on Shelburne Rd to Chesterton Athletic Field.
Pre-registration fee for both events is $30; race-day registration/packet pickup is $35. Team pricing is listed at $25 per runner. Street parking is available on Sherbrook Rd, Courtland Blvd, the other side of N Park Blvd, and Shelburne Rd. Dogs are allowed if kept on a short leash and lined up at the back.
