Event Details

The MTC Cotswold Ultra is an ultra-distance running event in the UK. It is also listed as Day 1 of the Thames Challenge. The event date is Thursday, 6 August 2026, and entries close on 5 August 2026.

Location and Registration

The start and registration point is Kemble Station (GL7 6AW). Participants must arrive between 6:00am and 6:30am for registration and equipment checks. A race brief follows, with the race start at 7:00am. All competitors must arrange their own transport to the start.

The Route

The course follows sections of the Thames Path and Wysis Way. From Kemble Station, runners take a short trek to the source of the Thames and return. The route continues through Neigh Bridge Country Park to Manor Ho.

It passes Lower Mill Nature Reserve, Aston Keynes, and reaches Cricklade. From Castle Eaton village, the path leaves the river until Blackford Farm, where it rejoins briefly. It continues over meadows before meeting the river again near Lechlade.

The course takes in meanders, bridges, and locks including Shifford Lock, Newbridge, and Bablock Hythe. The finish line is at the Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road.
