MTC Cotswold Ultra
The MTC Cotswold Ultra is a point to point ultramarathon covering 57 miles along the Thames Path. The route passes the river source and moves through Somerford Keynes, Cricklade, Castle Eaton, Blackford Farm, Lechlade, Shifford Lock, Newbridge, Bablock Hythe and finishes at Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road.
All finishers receive a bespoke Cotswold Ultra medal and each competitor is provided with a complimentary MTC head visor at the start. Bespoke trophies are awarded to the first male and female finishers, and the head sponsor supplies a pair of Mount to Coast R1 shoes to each first place male and female.
The event operates four checkpoints that provide water and basic nutrition. Example items that may be offered include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, nuts, dried fruit, sweets, squash, cola and water. Organisers aim to cater for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian diets but competitors with other requirements should supply their own food; drop bags may be left at checkpoint stations.
Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, Ordnance Survey Map 150 or downloaded maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit. Entrants must be 20 years or over. Transport to the start and from the finish is the responsibility of the competitor. Entrants must maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour or risk removal from the event.
