The Classic 5K, Birmingham
The Classic 5K is an inaugural community running event presented by Train & Burn Fitness Studio and hosted by The Leftover Energy Foundation Inc. It is scheduled for October 24, 2026 at History Park, 1700 4th Ave North in Birmingham, located within the Historic 4th Avenue Business District of the Civil Rights District.
The event features a flat, fast out and back 5K course that is USATF certified AL26039JE and passes through the Civil Rights District, 4th Avenue Business District, Fountain Heights Community and the Historic Smithfield Community. The 5K is open to all ages for walking or running and is chip timed by a professional timing company.
Race day activities include a pre race warm up, live music, sponsored booths, and an official race shirt for every registered runner. The Classic Community Corner hosts local organizations focused on health, education, voter registration and financial literacy. A portion of proceeds will provide scholarships for students attending Alabama State University and Alabama A&M University through the event nonprofit partner.
The event is held rain or shine and refunds are not offered. Packet pick up is available on Friday, October 23 and also on race day. Registration fees change by date, with set pricing before and after September 30, 2026 and a race day fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
