The Cider Run
The Cider Run is a trail running event held at Slabtown Cider Co. on the private Woodnewton Farm trail network beside the Oak Ridges Moraine. The course uses singletrack and forest trails with rooty technical sections, rolling hardwood forest, winding paths, short punchy climbs, and flowing descents. Course maps are released shortly before race day because the routes cross private property.
Distances and options include:
- 40K The Bushel, five loops on technical terrain
- 16K The Peck, two loops with significant climbing
- 8K The Apple, single loop on flowing singletrack
- 3.5K Kids' Timed, a youth trail race
- 1K Kids' Charity Fun Run, free with proceeds to Jumpstart
- 3.5K The Sauce Hike, a hike with 50% of fees supporting trail restoration
After the finish, participants can find locally prepared food and handcrafted Slabtown cider at the venue. The event is family friendly and includes a free kids fun run that donates proceeds to Jumpstart. Environmental measures include a cup free policy requiring reusable cups or bottles, support for local trail stewardship, and encouragement to carpool.
Parking is available on site and portable washrooms are provided near the start and finish area. Awards are given to the top three female, male, and non binary finishers in each age category and to overall top three finishers; awards must be picked up at the race. The event has a no refunds or transfers policy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
