The Bullock Smithy Ultra
The Bullock Smithy Ultra, also known as the Bullock Smithy Hike / Ultra 56, is a challenging 56-mile circular hike or ultra-run held annually in the Peak District, starting and finishing in Hazel Grove. Organized by the 3rd Hazel Grove Scout Group, the event takes place over the first full weekend in September. The course is unmarked and requires strong navigation skills, covering public footpaths, bridleways, and roads through scenic checkpoints including Edale, Castleton, and Millers Dale.
Participants have 24 hours to complete the route, with refreshments provided at checkpoints and a Full English breakfast at the finish. The event emphasizes self-sufficiency and safety equipment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
