Event details

The Boilermaker's Erie Canal Races take place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Whitesboro High School Stadium in Marcy, NY (6000 NY-291). The event includes the following races:

  • 10 Mile Race
  • 2-Person 10 Mile Relay
  • 5K Race
  • VIRTUAL 10 Mile Race
  • VIRTUAL 5K Race

Race incentives include a performance moisture-wicking tee shirt and a finisher's medal. Participants who register by 11:59 pm on Sunday, May 3 are guaranteed a shirt in their size. Shirts are 100% polyester short sleeve; men's crew neck and women's v-neck.

Course, registration and packet pickup

Both in-person courses start and finish on the track in the Ed Wadas Athletic Complex at Whitesboro High School. The route goes along the trail by the pedestrian bridge over Rt. 49 and follows the Erie Canalway Trail before returning. Virtual race entries will receive their medal and t-shirt by mail.

Special New Year's Resolution registration runs January 1 through January 3. Open registration runs from January 4 through race day or until event capacity is reached; relay registration closes May 14 at 11:59 pm. Packet pickup is available Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16 at the Boilermaker offices (805 Court Street, Utica, NY) and on race day near the start/finish area.

Rules and safety

The course is restricted to registered athletes and official race personnel. Walkers, animals, skateboards, in-line skates, roller skates, bicycles and baby joggers/strollers are prohibited. Relay teams must consist of two runners, both of age on race day; a relay wristband exchange must be visible to relay judges and the finishing runner must wear the bib with the timing chip. The event will follow local and federal public health guidelines in effect on race day. Per event policy, there are no deferrals and no refunds.
