Erie Canal Races
The Erie Canal Races take place on Sunday, May 16, 2027, and are presented by Wolfspeed. The program includes multiple distance options and begins and ends at Whitesboro High School in Marcy, NY.
Distances:
- 10 miles
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Two-person 10 mile relay, 5 miles per runner
The course starts with a partial lap on the Whitesboro High School track, moves onto a footpath to Paul Becker Road, crosses a pedestrian bridge over Route 49, and continues onto the Erie Canal Trail. Races follow an out and back route on the Canal Trail. The 10 mile course turns around just before the Harbor Point Lock; relay teams complete their hand off at that five mile mark. 5K runners follow the same route with a clearly marked halfway point to direct runners back to the track for the finish.
The event is restricted to registered runners and official race personnel. Walkers, pets, skateboards, in line skates, roller skates, bicycles, and baby joggers or strollers are prohibited. The use of headphones is strongly discouraged. Registrations include a t shirt, a commemorative medal, water stations and on course support, and post race snacks. Packet pickup is available at the Boilermaker office and near the start/finish at Whitesboro High School on the days before and the morning of the event.
