Erie Canal Races
Erie Canal Races is a set of timed running events held on the Erie Canal Trail and finishing on the Whitesboro High School track in Marcy, New York. The program includes a long distance race, a shorter road race, and a two person relay, all run as out-and-back courses on the Canal Trail. The event is presented by Wolfspeed and is scheduled for Sunday, May 16, 2027.
Distances:
- 10 Miles
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 10-Mile Relay (two person, 5 miles per runner)
The course begins with a partial lap on the Whitesboro High School track before leading to a footpath that reaches Paul Becker Road and a pedestrian bridge over Route 49. Runners continue on the Erie Canal Trail for an out-and-back route; the 10 Mile turnaround is just before Harbor Point Lock and also serves as the relay handoff point. All races return to Whitesboro High School for a finish on the track.
The event provides on-course support including water stations, marked halfway points for the 5K, and post-race snacks. Packet pickup is offered in the days prior and near the start area on race day. The course is restricted to registered runners and official race personnel; walkers, pets, strollers, bicycles, and wheeled devices are prohibited and use of headphones is strongly discouraged.
