The Bill Bergan 5K on the Fourth
The Bill Bergan 5K on the Fourth is a hybrid 5K Run/Walk held at Ada Hayden Park in Ames, Iowa, that benefits Friendship Ark Homes & Community Services. Friendship Ark celebrates the uniqueness of adults with intellectual disabilities by providing homes and community services and supports members through faith, family, and friendship.
Event options include:
- In person 5K Run/Walk at Ada Hayden Park
- Virtual 5K Run/Walk with remote time submission
Race registration includes a race T shirt. T shirt sizes are guaranteed for entries received by 6/12/2026; sizes and quantities are limited after that date. Virtual participants may pick up shirts at the office at 5820 Lincoln Way, Suite 101, Ames, IA 50014 or request shipping for an additional fee. Shipped T shirts may arrive after the in person race date.
Early packet pick-up for in person entries will be available on July 3 at the office address above. Packet distribution on race day will take place at the shelter house at Ada Hayden Park. Virtual participants may complete the run or walk any time between June 20 and July 4, 2026, and submit results via RunSignUp.
Age groups are 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70 plus, with the top three in each category recognized. A special prize will be awarded for the most patriotic participant. Friendship Ark is a 501(c)(3) organization and a portion of the registration fee may be tax deductible; consult a tax advisor.
