The Bill Bergan 5K on the Fourth is a hybrid 5K run and walk centered at Ada Hayden Park in Ames, Iowa, with a virtual option that can be completed between June 20 and July 4, 2026. Registration opens on May 11, 2026, and closes on June 13, 2026. The registration fee is listed as $35. T shirt sizes are guaranteed for entries received by June 12, 2026; sizes and quantities are limited after that date. T shirts are included with registration; virtual participants may pick up shirts at the event office or choose shipping for an additional fee, with shipped shirts possibly arriving after the in person race date.
Early packet pick up including T shirts is available on July 2 at the event office at 5820 Lincoln Way, Suite 101, Ames, IA. Packet distribution on race day is at the shelter house at Ada Hayden Park. Age group awards recognize the top three finishers in each category: 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and over. A special prize is listed for the most patriotic participant. The event is supported by a Discover Ames Community Grant, Sign Gypsies, and Downtown Ames Fareway.
