The Big Run 5K : Des Moines
The Big Run is an untimed community 5K held in Des Moines on Global Running Day. The event is hosted by Fleet Feet and presented by Brooks. Several local run clubs will attend, including 515 Run Club, Cool Runnings, Gratitude Running, and Capital Striders, each with a table on site.
There will be no packet pickup. Participants receive a goodie bag while supplies last; bags can be picked up before or after the run at SingleSpeed beginning at 5:00 PM. Brooks will offer a demo run and there will be raffles featuring Brooks shoes and swag. A post-run social takes place at SingleSpeed Brewing Co. with live music, food, and drinks. The event includes a shoe drive for donations to local shelters and track programs; bringing a gently used pair earns an extra raffle ticket. Organizers suggest running, walking, or biking to SingleSpeed and note parking options on Scott Ave bridge and the grassy lot across from SingleSpeed. If participants park in the Fleet Feet parking ramp, SingleSpeed will provide a validation ticket; the ramp is about a 0.8 mile walk from SingleSpeed. Registration for the event is free.
