Big Mountain Run
The Big Mountain Run is the Glacier Nordic Club's annual hill climb held in Whitefish, Montana. The 45th running is scheduled for July 24, 2027 at Big Mountain near Whitefish Mountain Resort.
Participants run or hike a mountain route of 3.8 miles with about 2,200 ft of elevation gain to the summit. Registrants receive a lift pass to descend the mountain; dogs are not permitted on the lift.
The event includes timed competition and multiple award categories. Awards and ribbons are given for top finishers among men, women, and juniors. Designated titles include King and Queen for fastest adults, Prince and Princess for juniors 16 and under, Top Dog for the fastest leashed dog, and recognition for the oldest and youngest runners. The Birthday Club gives age related acknowledgements for finish times. Raffle prizes and snacks are available at the summit, and an awards ceremony follows the event on the Summit House deck.
Registration fees vary by age and timing. Early registration for ages 17 and older is $35 with a higher day of race fee. Junior registration is $20. Online registration closes at 8:00 pm the day before the race; day of registration is available for an additional fee.
