MLK Jr. Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1 PHOENIX : Event description
The MLK Jr. Freedom Run is an annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day running event held on January 16, 2027 at G.R. Herberger Park, East Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ. The program includes several distance options and a virtual alternative so participants can take part in person or remotely.

The event is organized as a smaller, private group run with a cap per wave; waves close when they fill. Timing is optional and no timing chips are used. Participants may track time on personal devices or request assistance from on-course coordinators to record results, which can be submitted for posting online. Virtual participants receive a digital training pack and may submit results to receive event recognition and a medal.
Race swag is mailed to the registrant’s US mailing address; race bibs are provided on race day. Typical swag items include a running T-shirt, a finisher’s towel or giveaway, a finisher’s medal, a digital training pack, online results and a certificate, and an invitation to local running clubs. An optional technical running shirt is available for an additional fee.
