McDowell Mountain Frenzy Trail Runs
The event takes place Saturday, December 5, 2026, at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fountain Hills, Arizona. It offers multiple trail distances on marked single track and competitive track trails within the park and parts of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
- 50 Mile : 50.1 miles, 7,026 ft total elevation gain
- 50K : 30.8 miles, 3,020 ft total elevation gain
- 25K : 15.3 miles, 1,305 ft total elevation gain
- 10 Mile : 10 miles, 800 ft total elevation gain
- 5 Mile : 5.2 miles, 500 ft total elevation gain
Course notes: the 50K is a single-loop route that briefly enters the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The 50 Mile route includes three out-and-back climbs on East End, Windgate, and Thompson Peak and returns through the start/finish for a final loop. Shorter distances remain on the McDowell Competitive Track and feature winding single track with short steep sections.
Services and logistics: aid stations are placed approximately every 3 to 10.5 miles. Timing is chip based and results display at the finish. Bib and shirt pickup is available before and on event day. Crews are allowed at start/finish; pacers are permitted only for 50 Mile runners on the final loop. Drop bags are accepted at specified aid stations.
Support and rules: courses are marked with orange ribbons, reflective medallions, and laminated signs. MedStar medical staff are on site. The event runs a cupless program with reusable cups available. No pets are allowed on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
