The Beltie Triathlon at Crossmichael Marina, 12 and 13 September 2026
The Beltie Triathlon is a multi-distance event held at Crossmichael near Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway. Events take place around Crossmichael Marina, with the transition area located at the marina and a short run from transition to the road for the bike leg. The venue sits in the Galloway Glen of the Water of Ken and Dee and uses roads and trails around Loch Ken.
Two main formats are offered and there are relay team opportunities. Organisers note that distances are approximate because existing road networks are used. Safety cover and marshals will be in place on water and on the bike course.
- Novice (The Very Wee Beltie): Swim 300 m; Bike approx 10–12 km; Run 3 km
- Standard Olympic (The Wee Beltie): Swim 1.5 km; Bike 40 km; Run 10 km
- Relay option for the Olympic distance will be available with further details to follow
Swims are open water in a slow moving river bay by Crossmichael Marina; the Standard swim uses two laps with a compulsory exit between laps and a water safety team in position. The Standard bike is a 40 km circuit around Loch Ken with varied road surfaces and marshal points. E bikes are allowed in the Novice event. Accommodation and travel information is available for Dumfries and Galloway. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
