The Beat Lives On 5K Run/Walk
The Beat Lives On 5K Run/Walk is a 5 kilometer community running and walking event held in Venetian Shores, Lindenhurst. The course begins at Venetian Park and follows a loop through local streets including Granada Parkway, Harding Avenue, East Shore Road, Perry Place, Wyona Avenue, Schley which becomes Elm Street, Lido Parkway, Maple Avenue, West Lake Drive, Verona Parkway, Oak Avenue, Riviera Parkway, Beach Place and Venetian Boulevard before returning into the park to finish.
Participants receive a colorful t-shirt (availability not guaranteed after May 9), a decorative finisher medal and a raffle ticket; additional raffle tickets are available for purchase at the event. Personalized bibs are provided when registration occurs at least three weeks before the event. Virtual participants have bibs shipped to them, with a shipping window that ranges from one week before the event to one week after the event.
Awards include gift cards for the top three male and top three female overall finishers, age-group awards for both male and female in multiple age brackets, and recognition for the top male and top female Lindenhurst resident. Results, same-day finish line photos and event videos are published online. Proceeds benefit Long Island Facilities Raising Awareness and Support in the Fight Against Drug Addiction through the Beat Lives On Foundation.
