The Bath Beat
The Bath Beat is a walking and running event around Bath scheduled for Saturday 25 April 2026. It offers four waymarked distances that start on the southeastern edge of the city and lead into countryside, woods, hills and river valleys on the southern edge of the Cotswolds.
Distances include:
- 12.5 miles
- 17 miles
- 21 miles
- 26.5 miles
All routes follow public footpaths, travel along a historical disused canal and cross farmland with scenic views. The longest route passes the villages of Bathford, Avoncliffe, Hinton Charterhouse, Norton St Philip, Wellow and Combe Hay, then returns to Bath via the Somerset Coal Canal and the village of Midford.
Checkpoints appear on each route and regularly offer homemade cakes and sandwiches. The 21 and 26 mile routes include hot food and drinks served in a hall roughly halfway around. Entry includes recovery transport for participants who cannot complete a route, a medal for finishers, and on-course and finish food and drink. Entry pricing listed by the organiser is £25 for the 12.5 mile distance and £34 for the 17, 21 and 26.5 mile distances.
Organisers also seek volunteers to help at the event. Past participants have commented on the route, the provision of food at checkpoints and the support from volunteers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
