Event overview
The Backyard 12 with Swanage Bay Sauna is scheduled for 4 April 2026 in Swanage, Dorset. The event base is at Shore Place, Shore Road, Swanage (BH19 1LB). The format uses the Backyard Ultra structure with repeated laps on a measured trail.
Format and course
Participants aim to complete 12 laps of a 4.167 mile trail. Every hour, on the hour, runners gather at the starting carrel in Days Park, Swanage before the bell signals the next lap. The course runs through the Purbecks along the Jurassic Coast and includes an ascent up the ridgeway toward Old Harry’s Rocks.
Entries, teams and rules
Entries can be individual or in teams. Teams may be of two (each up to six yards) or three (each up to four yards). Team yards must be run in continuous alternate order to avoid a DNF.
Event village and support
The organiser’s team will provide marshals, medals and sports massage. The event village will include music and food vendors such as Carve Coffee, Purbeck Ice Cream and the Burnt Toast, with vegetarian and vegan options noted.
