The Bà Duathlon
The Bà Duathlon takes place on 5 September 2026 in Kinlochewe, Scotland. The event is an 80 miles duathlon that combines an off-road run followed by a long road ride that joins the Sportive route for the Bealach Na Bà closed road section.
- 18 miles off-road run with about 1,000 m of climb and descent before the bike
- 62 miles road ride along the west coast including the closed Bealach Na Bà climb
- 80 miles total distance with about 3,000 m of total elevation
The route uses remote and mountainous terrain. The road ride merges onto the Sportive route and includes a closed-road section over Bealach Na Bà. Due to the terrain, the event requires participants to meet a list of prerequisites and to provide details of their experience to secure a place.
Event services listed by the organiser include a bike shuttle from the start to the transition zone, timed segments for the uphill run, the Bealach bike climb and overall time, mountain safety cover, feed stations, and an end-of-event meal with a ceilidh dance. Camping is available in a field for a optional £10 donation; the field is open from Friday evening until Sunday midday.
Entries open 31 October 2025 and close 31 July 2026. Minimum age is 18 and the entry fee is £90. The event is based in Kinlochewe and aims to work with local communities along the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
