The Alpenglow 100

The Alpenglow 100 : Valemount, British Columbia

The Alpenglow 100 takes place in Valemount, BC, a small mountain town located near Mount Robson and at the meeting point of several ranges. The races include high alpine sections that top out above 2300 m and offer sightline views to Mount Robson, the Premier’s Range, the Rockies and Kinbasket Lake. The 2026 event is listed as sold out.

• 100 km A kids race of about 1 km is offered; it is non-competitive, typically attracts ages 3–10, and has free registration with an optional charitable donation.

Course and logistics:

• Stated ascent/descent totals: 38 km 1800 m, 65 km 3300 m, 100 km 5000 m.
• Routes traverse the Mount McKirdy ridgeline and Swift Mountain; the 100 km route includes extended overnight and daylight sections.
• Aid station provisioning includes energy gels, waffles, drink mix, Coke, water, chips, fruit, cookies, M&Ms, watermelon and pickles. Overnight aid stations will have at least one hot food item.
• Drop bag access: none for 38 km, one for 65 km, two for 100 km with multiple access points.

Rules and safety:

• The event is cup-free; runners must carry a collapsible or reusable cup.
• Mandatory gear list covers insulation, waterproof breathable jacket, emergency blanket or bivy, whistle, running pack, food and water. 100 km runners must carry two light sources.
• A one hour time penalty applies per missing mandatory item if noncompliance is discovered.
• Crew access is strictly limited and restricted at many mountain points.
