The Abingdon Marathon
The Abingdon Marathon is a marathon event held in Abingdon. The 42nd edition is scheduled for Sunday 18th October 2026 and carries full race licence no. 30631. The race was established in 1982 and is described as one of the older marathon events in the UK.
The event is organised by a race committee with over 125 combined years of experience. Entries are open for the 2026 event. The race attracts runners from running clubs across the country, including athletes aiming for personal best times and people planning a first marathon on a user friendly course.
The organisers run the event strictly not for profit. All profits are donated to local charities and chosen organisations. In 2025 the Abingdon Marathon raised £20,300 for its charities. The 2026 edition includes a revised course and a new event t shirt design has been revealed.
Sponsors and partners named by the organisers include Abingdon Sports and Leisure, Hilton Garden Hotel, Active Root and Tribe.
