The Abingdon Marathon
The Abingdon Marathon is a full marathon event held on Sunday 18th October 2026. It is the 42nd edition of a race established in 1982 and is described as one of the oldest marathons in the UK. The event currently shows as sold out and is held under full race licence no. 30631.
The race is organised by a race committee with over 125 combined years of experience. The organisers state the event focuses on the athletes and aims for a professional yet warm and welcoming feel. The Abingdon Marathon attracts runners from running clubs nationwide, including those seeking personal best times and those aiming to complete a user friendly first marathon.
The event is run strictly not for profit; all profits are donated to local charities and chosen organisations. In 2025 the Abingdon Marathon raised £20,300 for its charities.
Volunteer registration is open for the event. Sponsors and partners named for the race include Abingdon Sports and Leisure, Hilton Garden Hotel, Active Root and Tribe. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
