The Abingdon Marathon
The Abingdon Marathon is a long established road marathon in the UK, held as the 42nd edition on Sunday 18 October 2026. The event was first established in 1982 and is described as one of the oldest marathons in the country. The 2026 race is sold out and holds full race licence no. 30631.
The race is organised by a committee of experienced runners with over 125 combined years of involvement. The organisers present the event as athlete focused and say it attracts competitors from running clubs across the country, including people aiming for personal best times and those attempting a first marathon. For 2026 the organisers have introduced a new course route.
The Abingdon Marathon operates on a not for profit basis; all profits are donated to local charities and chosen organisations. In 2025 the event raised £20,300 for its charities.
