The Thanksgiving Trail Trot is a holiday running event held in Sheffield, Illinois. The race takes place on Thanksgiving Day and centers around Homecoming Park (West Park), which serves as both the starting and finishing location. This event is untimed, focusing on a community atmosphere rather than competitive results.

Course and Participation

The race route is approximately 2 miles long and consists primarily of wooded trails. There are no qualification requirements or restrictions based on skill level. Participants are encouraged to wear Thanksgiving costumes, and an award is presented for the best costume. To ensure the safety of all participants on the trails, pets are not permitted at the event.

Participants who register by mid-November receive a short-sleeve t-shirt as part of their entry. There is also an option to upgrade to a long-sleeve shirt for an additional fee.

Location and Parking

The event is located at 353 S Church Street. Parking is available on the streets adjacent to West Park, with the exception of Park Street and Cook Street.
