Tentsmuir Forest 8 hour Challenge : 24 October 2026
This is an eight hour loop challenge held at Tentsmuir Forest. Competitors complete as many 4.366 mile laps on trail paths as possible within the event time limit. Each lap has approximately 20 ft of ascent. The final lap must be started before the eight hour limit and completed within nine hours.
Timing uses electronic wrist tags that record the start and finish of each lap and provide a final lap count. Tags should be worn on the wrist and must not be covered, as wet clothing can block the signal. Runners must avoid congregating at the start line after finishing a lap to prevent false readings. At the end of the run competitors check out at Basecamp, hand in timing tags, and receive a finisher bag. Detailed lap data will be available from the timing system.
Basecamp sits on the mapped route and offers two 6 x 3 metre gazebos for kit storage. The organiser does not accept liability for lost items. Spectators are welcome. Parking at Tentsmuir uses a pay barrier system with a daily charge of £4.
Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration for the event duration with a minimum 1500 ml fluid and 60–90 g of carbohydrates per hour, appropriate weather clothing, dry clothes for afterwards, and a mobile phone.
Places are limited to 250. Entry fee until 21 October 2026 is £44.95; a service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies. Refunds are available up to two months before the event. Event transfers are allowed up to one month before the event and participant transfers up to one week before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
