Tentsmuir Forest 8 hour Challenge
The event is an 8 hour loop challenge on trail paths around Tentsmuir Forest in Fife. Participants complete as many 4.367 mile laps as possible within the 8 hour time limit. Each lap includes about 20 ft of ascent. A GPX file of the route is available on the event page.
Timing is recorded electronically using wrist tags that register lap start and finish times. Runners must check out at the event basecamp to finalise lap counts and individual lap times and to receive a finisher bag. Basecamp is marked on the event GPX map and provides kit storage under two 6 x 3 meter gazebos; organisers do not accept liability for lost kit. Spectators are permitted at basecamp. Parking at Tentsmuir uses a coin or card pay barrier and is charged at £4 for the day.
Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration for the event (minimum 1500 ml fluid and 60 g to 90 g carbohydrates per hour of running), appropriate clothing for weather, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone. The event uses a waiting list once entries are full. Entry fee was listed as £44.95 with that price valid until 21 October 2026.
