Ted's Run for Literacy, 17th Annual
Ted's Run for Literacy takes place on October 4, 2026 at Kildonan Park, 2015 Main Street, Winnipeg. The event offers three distances:
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 2 km
The route proceeds down Peguis Drive onto Riverview Drive and passes the intersection of Riverview Drive, Rainbow Drive and McKay Drive to Scotia Street. 5 km participants make a U turn at 328 Scotia Street and return to Kildonan Park the same way. 10 km participants continue into St. John’s Park for a loop before returning to the park. The finish line is located near the northern picnic shelters on Peguis Drive. The 2 km event remains entirely within the park and the distance is approximate.
The event is sanctioned by the Manitoba Runners’ Association. The 5 km and 10 km courses are measured and certified by Athletics Manitoba. Chip timing is used for the 5 km and 10 km races and bibs must be visible on the front of participants. Water is available at two stations, one block before the 5 km turnaround and at St. John’s Park; there is no water station on the 2 km route.
Medical technicians on bicycles and a medical doctor are present, along with two defibrillators, portable oxygen and first aid kits. Strollers are permitted with caution. Dogs, skateboards and bicycles are not allowed on the course. Parking is available at the Rainbow Stage and Pavilion parking lots; vehicles parked on the left side of the roadway may be ticketed and towed and there is no parking within 50 meters of the start and finish area. Participants may choose a locally designed medal. In extreme weather the race director may postpone or cancel the event without refund.
