The certified live 5K uses electronic chip timing and a mostly level asphalt course designed for personal best times. The course features long straight sections, few corners, no traffic, and a finishing 1/3 mile that is slightly downhill. After-race activities include team awards, age group awards for top male and female finishers, a basket raffle, and awards for top fundraisers presented three weeks after the race. Each adult bib includes a free slice of pizza or a draft beer at Trappers II. Certificates and prizes are given to top runners in each age group.
Race day registration is handled at Lewis Park using a phone or tablet with a QR code, and both cash and credit cards are accepted for registration and donations. Registrants may select an event shirt if registration is received by April 30. Funds raised support ovarian cancer awareness, local patient support, and research. Hope for Heather is an IRS 501(c)(3) all volunteer organization and directs net registration proceeds and fundraising dollars to the cause.
