Taverham Summer 10k
This is a guided trail run that starts in Taverham and follows parts of the Mariotts Way, crossing fields and passing through woodland to create a varied route. The advertised distance is 10 km; organisers note the actual distance may be slightly over or under this figure.
Participants are organised into groups based on ability. Runs are led at a conversational pace to allow participants to take in the scenery rather than race; attendees may be expected to run at a slower pace than they would alone. The route is described as mostly flat with very few obstacles, and the event is classified as easy, suitable for people who have been running on roads and are trying trail running for the first time.
The event allows two hours to complete the run, subject to the abilities of those attending. Included on the run is a fully qualified and experienced Run Leader and different paced groups matched to ability. There is plenty of free parking, with the precise location communicated before the event, and a car share group exists to help reduce traffic.
Recommended kit reflects changing trail conditions: road shoes are acceptable unless there has been a lot of rain, plus a waterproof jacket, sun cream if needed, at least 500 ml of water and any snacks required. The event is organised by ESCAPE trails and the listed cost is £12.50. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
