TaterFest's Couch Potato 1K/5K
The Couch Potato races take place during TaterFest in Mount Jackson with check-in and race staging at Lions Park (Town Park) at 326 Wunder Street. A route map will be available before the event and will also be shown at check-in.
Distances offered:
- 1K: loop in Lions Park, untimed, awards only for best costume.
- 5K: point-to-point from Lions Park to Town Hall; potato bar and water stations at finish.
Participants in the 5K receive a bag of Route 11 potato chips, a voucher for the potato bar, and a tee shirt. A hayride will be provided to return runners to Lions Park or participants may walk or run back, about 0.4 miles. Participants in the 1K receive a bag of Route 11 potato chips, a $5 coupon to Melted Dreams, and a tee shirt; the 1K is marked but untimed.
The event is hosted by the Town of Mount Jackson Spud Squad. Partners listed for the event include Valley Trail Bike & Run sponsoring prizes, Shenandoah Valley Runners providing race and route support, SEARCH hosting the potato bar, and FCCLA sponsoring water stations.
