TaterFest's Couch Potato 1K and 5K in Mount Jackson, VA
This community event offers two marked running options during TaterFest in Mount Jackson at Lions Park (also called Town Park, 326 Wunder Street). A visual of each route will be posted online ahead of the event and available physically at check-in.
- 5K: point-to-point course starting in Lions Park and finishing at Town Hall downtown.
- 1K: a loop course inside Lions Park located within the TaterFest footprint.
Check-in for each race is held at Lions Park prior to the respective race. The 5K finish area will include a potato bar for 5K participants and water stations will be provided along the course. After the 5K, a hayride is offered to return participants to Lions Park; participants may also walk or run back, approximately 0.4 miles.
Finish-line and participant items differ by distance. 5K participants receive a bag of Route 11 potato chips, a voucher for the potato bar, and a tee shirt. 1K participants receive a bag of Route 11 potato chips, a five dollar coupon to Melted Dreams, and a tee shirt. The 1K is marked but untimed, with awards given only for best costume.
The event is hosted by the Town of Mount Jackson Spud Squad with local partners providing race support, prizes, the potato bar, and water stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
