Event overview
Tartarus Backyard Ultra is a backyard-ultra style run and ruck event at Camp 7, Riverside State Park, Spokane, WA. The event includes separate running and rucking races. Participants receive an event T-shirt and another acknowledgement item. The event awards a prize to the winner in each race.
Course and format
The races use a loop on local trails that begins at the old airstrip in Camp 7. Each loop must be completed within one hour. A new loop begins on the hour and participants must be standing in the start corral when the next loop begins to continue. If a participant leaves the corral at the start time or self-eliminates, they may not continue. Once the bell rings to start a loop, participants must remain on course except to use the portable toilets. Crews are permitted but runners must provide their own aid. A small personal area for a chair, cooler, and gear is allowed next to the start and finish. Camping is permitted nearby. Participants who do not finish must vacate the start/finish area.
