Event overview
The Chilly Chili 5K, Team Awards and Chili Competition takes place on Saturday, January 24, 2026. It is organized by the Bloomsday Road Runners Club (BRRC) at the Moran Prairie Grange, 6030 S. Palouse Highway on the South Hill. The event includes a 5K road race and a separate runner's party that features a chili cook-off, awards and music. The party allows BYOB beverages and will offer cinnamon rolls and hot and cold drinks.
Course and race format
The race uses a gun start with chip timing. The course is an out-and-back with a turnaround at about 1.5 miles near the top of a hill. The course begins in the Moran Prairie Grange parking lot, follows 61st Ave west, turns south on S. Freya St., west on 65th Ave, then south on S. Regal Rd to the turnaround. There will be a water station at the turnaround. The finish line returns to the Grange, which is a heated indoor facility.
Registration, packet pickup and awards
Online race registration is $25 and includes the chili cook-off, awards and music; day-of registration is $30. A separate runner's party registration is free and does not include the race. Packet pick-up is held on the day of the event at the Moran Prairie Grange. Awards include overall 1st place male and female, top 3 in age groups (0-7, 8-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+), and cross country team and running team chili cook-off awards.
