Distances and basic format
- Relay loop: 5 miles per loop.
- 10K: single loop, 6.2 miles.

Relay race details The relay is run at approximately 6,000 feet elevation. Teams must consist of three runners. Each team member completes four loops in the same order as the first loop; deviation from that order leads to disqualification. When a runner crosses the finish line after their loop, the next team member may begin from behind the start line. The relay has no separate men's or women's division. Prize payouts are listed for first, second, and third place.
10K details The 10K is a single loop around the lake measured at 6.2 miles. The 10K includes men's and women's divisions with prize payouts for the top three finishers. Registration includes a Tanri hat and Saturday dinner.
Individual race details The individual format is a fixed-duration event in which entrants complete as many 5-mile laps as possible. Only individual entrants are eligible for the Western States raffle; completing at least eight laps is required to qualify. Raffle ticket allocation increases with consecutive years of participation. The individual race has men's and women's divisions and prize payouts for the top three places. Registration includes a Tanri hat and Saturday dinner.
