About the race
The Tammany Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning running event in Covington, Louisiana, based at 701 N Columbia Street. It includes multiple event options and a route that moves through downtown Covington.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 5 Mile Run
- 1 Mile Fun Run
Runners start just north of downtown Covington. Both the 5K and the 5 Mile courses pass through downtown streets and along roads lined with moss covered trees. Near St. Paul’s High School the route turns slightly west and then north, returning to finish at the St. Tammany Courthouse. The 5 Mile course continues farther south past additional residential sections before rejoining the 5K route and heading back north into downtown.
The 1 Mile Fun Run takes place before the 5K and 5 Mile events. The Tammany Turkey Trot is organized by the Tammany Turkey Trot organization.
